Chief People Officer
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is a new, independent, non-departmental public body, bringing together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK, and Research England. The new body is expected to maximise value from the UK Government’s investment in research and innovation of over £8bn per annum by 2020. This includes nearly £2bn per annum of new investment which is to be delivered through new cross-Council collaborative and innovative initiatives.
UKRI will lead the overall strategic direction of research and innovation funding in the UK, pushing the frontiers of human knowledge, to deliver benefits for UK society and the economy through world-class research and business-led innovation. UKRI is to become more than the sum of its parts, catalysing changes within and across the Councils, and by delivering the significant cross-cutting interventions that are necessary to ensure full value is obtained from the new funds provided under the government’s Industrial Strategy. This requires us to transform the way we operate.
The Chief People Officer is a critical appointment at a time of great ambition for UKRI; in a world of unparalleled global change UKRI is driving innovation and investment to support a thriving UK economy of the future. This is a unique opportunity for an individual capable of leading a transformation from within, developing one organisation from the nine separate entities making up UKRI, and creating a value adding and highly regarded HR function.
We are seeking an innovative HR leader, someone with an appetite for change, strong influencing skills and strategic nous, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the strategic direction of the organisation. The successful applicant will have excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability, focus and drive to identify, oversee and deliver a major transformation programme.
