About the role
Our Visitor Assistants are key to welcoming our visitors, providing an excellent experience, a safe environment and encouraging spend to help the Museum generate income.
As a Visitor Assistant, you will provide direction, information, experiences and promotions to our visitors; inspiring people in the natural world through our collections and scientific research. Ensuring that our visitors are provided with an engaging visit in a well-presented safe environment, you will excel at delivering a high standard of customer service, and knowledge of the offer.
The role involves switching between a range of visitor-facing duties and tasks across the Museum, and so the ability to be adaptable and flexible is essential. Whilst this role does not focus on sales, experience of, confidently promoting and upselling is advantageous. Ultimately, we are looking for a true team player, who is a confident communicator and places customer service at the heart of their intentions.
It would be good to note that this role involves working with the public and exposed to large numbers of people in noisy and crowded environments. It also requires long periods of standing as well as working outside throughout the year in a range of temperatures and conditions, and these are factors that we recommend that you consider before applying.
